China: China's new tea industry bubbles up into success

[Voiceover] In China, the so-called 'new tea' industry continues steeping in success. Recent data shows that in the first half of this year, the industry saw a wave of IPOs from companies like Mixue Bingcheng and AUNTEA JENNY. The manager of an outlet for Chagee, another up-and-coming tea brand says blends that help relieve summer heat are the most popular. Everyone has their favorite. [Soundbite] Li Teng, manager, CHAGEE store in Shanghai: "Lemon tea is our top summer recommendation. Our newly launched pink guava and Yunnan olive-flavored varieties are best-sellers." [Soundbite] Customer: "I prefer something refreshing with a hint of lime flavor." [Voiceover] Data shows that as of June of this year, major tea brands had close to 117,000 stores in China, about 3,700 more than in May. Meanwhile, the industry’s top 10 new tea brands launched more than 230 new products in the first half of the year, data shows, which is just over one per day.
