This is the dramatic moment a bungling motorist runs a red light after copying a bus, resulting in a serious crash in Russia.

Dashcam footage shows a white car pulling away at a red light, seemingly prompted by a blue coach next to it inching forward in St Petersburg, on July 29.

Without checking the signal, the reckless driver speeds into the intersection, just as another vehicle barrels through, slamming into the front of the white car and sending it spinning toward the pavement.

The car comes to a stop with its front end badly damaged.

Moments later, the traffic light turns green, and the vehicle filming continues through the intersection.

Local media reported that a passenger in one of the vehicles sustained a concussion. No other injuries were confirmed.

Police are currently investigating the crash.
