PALESTINIAN MAN SPEAKING TO REPORTER OUTSIDE HOSPITAL (Arabic) GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - AUGUST 5: A 13-year-old Palestinian boy, Tamir Shihaiber, died of hunger in central Gaza on Tuesday, August 5, as Israel’s blockade continues to restrict humanitarian access. Shihaiber’s body was taken to the morgue at Al Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah, where relatives mourned his death. According to Gaza’s Health Ministry, at least 188 people, including 94 children, have died from starvation and malnutrition since October 2023. The Israeli army, rejecting international calls for a ceasefire, has pursued a brutal offensive on Gaza since Oct. 7, 2023, killing more than 61,000 Palestinians, almost half of them women and children. Israel’s military campaign has devastated the enclave and brought it to the verge of famine. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
