This is the moment a snake suddenly leapt onto a resident who was trying to catch it, causing him to fall from a chair.

The reptile slithered along the wall just below the ceiling of a home's front porch, prompting a local to try and catch it in Lopburi, Thailand.

Footage shows the man trying to reach for the 4ft (1m) serpent with a tool - only for the beast to launch itself off the wall toward him.

The unexpected movement startled him, making him lose balance and fall backwards off the plastic chair he was using for extra height.

He landed on his back but was not seriously hurt, while the snake fled into the grass.

Neighbours later helped him catch the reptile and release it safely back into the wild away from homes on June 6.
