Chinese athlete with lightning-fast feet shatters world record at rope jump championships

The 2025 World Jump Rope Championships were held in Kawasaki, Japan, from July 31 to August 4. Organised by the International Jump Rope Union, this is a Category A international event and currently the highest-level and most influential jump rope competition in the world. This year’s championship attracted over 2,600 athletes from 34 countries and regions, making for an exceptionally intense competition.

In the 30-second single under event, Cen Xiaolin demonstrated remarkable strength. In the preliminary round on July 31, he broke his own previous world record of 228 jumps by achieving 232. Then, in the final on August 2, he set a new world record again with 238 jumps in 30 seconds, winning the gold medal in the process.

Cen Xiaolin, born in 2001 in Qiandongnan, Guizhou Province, is of Miao ethnicity. He began training in 2010 after enrolling at Qixing Primary School in Guangzhou.
