On August 3rd, in the Qiangtang uninhabited area of Nagqu, Tibet, a tourist named Mr. Ma and his family captured a rare sight during their journey - a mountain draped in a rainbow.

Unlike the usual arching rainbows seen suspended in the sky, this one appeared low and stretched horizontally across the distant mountains, making it look as if a “rainbow mountain” had emerged from the barren land.

Mr. Ma reported that the stunning phenomenon lasted around 20 minutes. As the area is uninhabited with very few passing vehicles, fewer than 10 people witnessed it in person.

The Qiangtang uninhabited area is located in China’s Tibet Autonomous Region, covering 298,000 square kilometres with an average altitude of 5,000 metres.

Known as the “forbidden zone of life,” it is famous for its extreme environment and rich biodiversity. The vast wilderness, unique landforms, and ever-changing weather together create awe-inspiring natural scenes.
