This is the heartwarming moment farmers rescue a dog stuck in a 20ft deep well shaft.

Six farmers rescued a hapless stray dog trapped in a hole in rural wasteland for four days in Lopburi, Thailand, on October 25.

Wirut Kaewjaroen and the other five villagers were alerted by a gardener working near the wasteland that he had heard a dog crying from a hole in the area.

Footage shows the rescuers using a pulley and rope to retrieve the poor white canine.

They successfully rescued the malnourished dog and fed it.

Wirut Kaewjaroen said: 'We struggled to rescue it for two days. The first day was unsuccessful due to insufficient equipment.'

The rescue required a generator for the fan used to blow air into the hole because it was so deep and narrow that it would have been very difficult for Chaichan Sangsilp, one of the team members who rappelled down, to breathe.

After the rescue mission, the dog was adopted and is now being taken care of by the farmers. They named the dog 'Siren'.
