BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA - AUGUST 6: Argentine security forces used tear gas and water cannons to disperse retirees, healthcare workers, disability rights activists, and journalists during a protest outside the National Congress in Buenos Aires on Wednesday, August 6.
The peaceful demonstration called on lawmakers not to approve a veto of pension increases and demanded an end to cuts to disability benefits.
Among those affected was Associated Press photographer Rodrigo Abd, who was struck in the head by a water jet and had to be evacuated.
The incident took place while Congress was debating funding projects for public universities and the Garrahan Hospital.
