A glutinous white substance washed up on west Cornwall beaches has caused illness among dogs and the death of at least one. Said to smell like firelighters, pieces of the unknown pollutant has been sent to Germany for investigation. Meanwhile Environmental Health have put iup warning signs for surfers, swimmers and dog walkers until the substance is identified. The incident comes the day sfte Surfers Agaunst Sewage petitioned 10 Downing Street about the importance of keeping the sea clean, since a recent survey found that surfing is worth £1.8 billion (yes, billion pounds) to the national economy
