China: World's first robot 6S store opens in south China's Shenzhen
[Voiceover] Billed as the world's first one-stop robot shop, Shenzhen Future Times Robotics Co. has just opened a robot super store in Shenzhen. Inside is every kind of robot available, from robotic massage devices to robotic cappuccino makers. The store's operators say their business model is similar to 4S auto dealerships that include sales, spare parts, service and survey, but with two additional services: on-demand leasing and fully customized products. They said flexible leasing model not only lowers the barrier for companies and individuals to use robots but also quickly validates the application potential of robots in different scenarios. [Soundbite] Zhao Bingbing, Director, Shenzhen Longgang District Artificial Intelligence (Robotics) Administration: "This approach tackles the existing problems of limited sales, restricted applications and a lack of data regarding robots. By expanding applications and sales and accumulating more data and feedback, we can ensure the continuous advancement of robot technology iteration." [Voiceover] 26 robot companies signed cooperation agreements with the store on opening day, with dozens of others expressing interest, including 50 humanoid and service robot firms.
