This is the dramatic moment massive swells battered a ferry bound for an island, terrifying all of the passengers on board.

Student John Dexter Mendiola and his classmates were island hopping to celebrate their graduation when they encountered rough seas on the way to Limasawa Island in Leyte, the Philippines.

Footage shows waves violently crashing against the wooden motorboat, causing it to subtly rock during their trip on July 28.

The holidaymakers can be heard screaming in fear each time a surge collided with the vessel, drenching them with seawater.

John said: 'The waves became rough, the skies turned grey — but even with the storm, laughter and memories kept us going.

'It wasn't the smoothest ride, but it was definitely unforgettable. A celebration we'll never forget, not just because we made it through school but because we braved the waves together.'
