US, Los Angeles: Castaic Canyon Wildfire PIO Update With Sound On Tape Part 5
Los Angeles, United States - August 08, 2025 08/07/2025 10:10 pm GMT-0700 CASTAIC, Calif. – The Canyon Fire has grown rapidly, now scorching 4,856 acres from eastern Piru in unincorporated Ventura County to western Castaic in unincorporated Los Angeles County, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman Engineer Jonathan Torres. The update, issued at 10:15 p.m., marks a sharp increase from earlier reports of roughly 1,500 acres burned. More than 400 firefighters remain on the ground overnight, supported by night-flying helicopters making water drops to slow the fire’s spread. Crews are using bulldozers and other tactics to strengthen containment lines as the blaze continues to threaten homes and rural properties in both counties. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
