Phoenix, United States - August 08, 2025 08/07/2025 10:01 pm GMT-0700 PHOENIX, Ariz. – According to Phoenix Fire Captain Rob McDade, Phoenix and Glendale firefighters responded to the 5700 block of North 42nd Lane to reports of a garage fire. Arriving crews located a single-story house with an obvious working carport fire that was rapidly extending into the house. Firefighters were informed that the house was utilized as a shared living space for people with special needs, with a total of six occupants. The three on-site caretakers were able to evacuate the special needs residences, including at least one who was in a wheelchair, to the backyard of the house away from the fire. Firefighters launched a swift offensive fire attack and successfully gained full control of the fire in approximately 15 minutes. At least three of the occupants are expected to be transported for evaluation at a local hospital. The cause of the fire has yet to be determined by investigators; however, early signs suggest the fire started from the outside and extended into the house.
