DOUGLAS COUNTY, Colo. — Douglas County deputies had an unusual encounter when a turkey decided to tail one of their patrol units, the sheriff’s office said.

Commander Christine Brite and Deputy Taylor Davis were leaving a call for service when the bird appeared, first approaching a citizen before crossing the road and running after Davis’s vehicle. The turkey kept pace long enough for the deputy to slow down and “hear him out,” though the sheriff’s office noted no translator was available to interpret the bird’s urgent message.

The deputies ensured the turkey and nearby drivers stayed safe before moving on. “Just another day on patrol in Douglas County, where even the turkeys keep us on our toes,” the department said.
