CANAKKALE, TÜRKİYE - AUGUST 8: At least three villages and a hospital in northwestern Türkiye have been evacuated Friday (Aug. 8) as a precaution due to wildfires in nearby areas, according to local authorities.

Dramatic video showed that a fire truck was trapped among flames while responding wildfire.

The Governor's Office of Canakkale province said in a statement that a fire broke out in agricultural area in the Saricaeli village and spread to the forest area, adding aerial and ground-based firefighting teams were dispatched to extinguish the fires.

In another statement, the governorate announced that Mehmet Akif Ersoy State Hospital has been partially evacuated to prevent patients from being affected by smoke.

"Due to a fire that started in the rural area of Yigitler village in the Bayramic district of Canakkale, the villages of Sacakli, Ahmetceli, and Doganca have been evacuated as a precautionary measure. Efforts to extinguish the fire from the air and on the ground are continuing,” the governorate said in another statement.

Ships were temporarily barred from passing north through the Canakkale Strait due to the fire, the country's Directorate General of Coastal Safety announced.
