VARIOUS OF PROTESTERS CHANTING SLOGANS IN FRONT OF THE NEW YORK TIMES BUILDINGNEW YORK, US - AUG. 08, 2025: Hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets of New York on Friday, Aug. 8, to protest the U.S.-backed Israeli plan to fully occupy the Gaza Strip. Chanting slogans and carrying Palestinian flags, the protesters demanded an end to the occupation, siege and starvation in Gaza. The march included tense moments between demonstrators and police as the crowd passed landmarks such as Trump Tower and The New York Times building. Israel’s Security Cabinet approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan early Friday to fully occupy Gaza City. Israel has faced mounting outrage for its destructive war against Gaza, where more than 61,000 victims have been killed since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave and brought it to the verge of famine. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
