Anti-migrant protestors gather in Nuneaton over alleged rape of 12yo girl
Footage captures anti-migrant protestors in Nuneaton chanting and protesting over the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl on a day of protests across the UK.
The protestors were organised in response to two men, reportedly Afghan asylum seekers, being charged over the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl in the town.
Ahmad Mulakhil, 23, was charged with the rape of the girl in Nuneaton, while Mohammad Kabir, 23, was charged with kidnap and strangulation.
Protestors outside the Nuneaton Town Hall, yesterday (09/08), were seen waving the Union Jack and St George's flags, and were carrying signs saying "This is England" and "UK First". "
After hours standing outside the town hall, protestors marched through the town centre chanting obscenities against Keir Starmer.
Tensions in the town have been rising since George Finch, the Reform UK Leader of Warwickshire County Counil, said the police were covering up the true nature of Mulakhil's immigration status.
In a letter to the forces chief constable, Finch said: "The continued cover-up of the true nature of Ahmad Mulakhil's immigration status risks public disorder breaking out on the streets of Warwickshire."
"The same detail has been covered up today concerning Mohammed Kabir. "
"I am disgusted that one year on from the social unrest that we saw in parts of the UK in 2024, the Home Office and police have clearly not learnt any lessons from the handling of similar incidents last year."
"I strongly believe that the only risk to public order from this case in Warwickshire comes from the cover-up itself."
Ahead of the planned protest on Saturday, Assistant Chief Constable Claire Armes, said: "We've been out and about today talking with residents and businesses."
"We understand people are concerned and they've been asking lots of questions around planned protest activity in the county later this week."
"We police without fear or favour. People may peacefully protest but we won't tolerate criminal or violent behaviour. "
"We will deal with anyone committing crime or anti-social behaviour swiftly and robustly."
"To anyone concerned: we have full policing plans in place to ensure residents and businesses can go about their lives as usual."
"Your neighbourhood officers and PCSOs will be out and about as usual through the week. If you have any concerns, please stop them and have a chat."
