Parrot helps police uncover drug trafficking ring in the UK
Police said a gang leader's pet parrot helped uncover a drug trafficking ring in the UK.
The yellow ringneck named Mango was owned by the girlfriend of leader Adam Garnett, 35, who allegedly ran the operation from inside prison, where he is serving a 15-year sentence.
Incriminating videos of Mango were found when authorities searched through Garnett's illegally held phone, showing the tiny bird playing with drug money.
Footage shows Mango gripping a banknote in its beak in the same room where a police raid later took place.
More clips showing kilo blocks of drugs were also found on the device before an operation was launched to capture the group.
Lancashire Police said: 'One drug dealer's parrot learned to say ‘two for 25,' a phrase used by the organised crime gang run by her boyfriend. Not a phrase you want your parrot squawking when the police come knocking.'
The bird's owner Shannon Hilton, 29, and thirteen other gang members were arrested.
The department added: 'As Mango the parrot played with illegally gained money, the gang members rapped about their drug dealing, boasting of their criminal exploits.'
