US, Phoenix: Tempe Loop 202 Fatal Single Vehicle Crash

Phoenix, United States - August 10, 2025 08/10/2025 12:40 am GMT-0700 TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) troopers and Tempe Fire Medical Rescue crews responded to reports of a single-vehicle collision with a possible ejection on the westbound Red Mountain Loop 202 near the southbound SR-143 ramp. According to DPS at the scene, a black sedan entered the southbound SR-143 ramp from the 202 at a high rate of speed. The vehicle lost control, crashed through the guard rail, and collided with a concrete pillar near the right shoulder. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and was found in the landscape area under the Loop 202. Tempe Fire Department crews arrived a short time later and pronounced the unidentified driver deceased at the scene. DPS and ADOT crews established closures for the southbound SR-143 on-ramp from the westbound Loop 202 mainline and the westbound Loop 202 on-ramp from Priest Drive.
