Evil son 'kills his mother and buries her in cement in bathtub'
A Thai man allegedly murdered his mother and hid her body in a cement-filled bathtub in their home in Bangkok.
Tarn, 33, reportedly choked 73-year-old Jiranan to death after being enraged by her constant nagging.
He was said to have placed her corpse in the bathtub and entombed her in layers of cement and old clothes to mask the smell of decay.
Tarn continued living in the same house for around two weeks before walking into the Romklao Police Station on Monday, August 4, to turn himself in.
Police raced to the scene in Soi Romklao 27 and were met with a foul stench coming from the bathroom. They dug through the cement-filled tub and discovered Jiranan's rotting corpse buried beneath a pile of clothes.
Police Captain Sukhum Phutthammarin of the Romklao Police Station said: ‘While performing my duty as an inquiry officer during my shift, the suspect walked into the station and confessed that he killed his mother and left her body inside a bathtub in his bathroom.
‘At first, I did not believe him and thought he was joking, but I sent patrol officers to check just to be sure.
‘Inside the bathtub, we found something suspicious covered with clothes and concrete, so we contacted rescuers to investigate before discovering the body.'
Tarn claimed he attacked his mother 'because she never stopped complaining'.
Neighbours said the elderly woman was formerly a lottery seller who retired after being scammed. She relied on a government allowance to live quietly with her son, and the pair were reportedly never heard arguing.
Residents said Tarn was often seen at a water refilling station, but had disappeared in recent weeks.
Police Major General Kiatikul Sonthinen, commander of the Metropolitan Police Division 3, said: ‘After the suspect confessed to murdering his mother, we arrested him.
‘According to the brief interrogation, the motive might have stemmed from stress because the victim had to constantly provide for her son.
‘The suspect testified that he choked his mother to death before hiding her body inside the bathtub, covering it with more than 50 pieces of clothing and pouring cement to mask the smell.
‘The investigation found no history of drug use or violent behaviour, but he has a history of mental health treatment.
‘He remains in police custody and will undergo a medical examination to determine whether he suffers from a mental disorder before legal proceedings continue.'
