An Australian tourist allegedly had his holiday cash stolen by two prostitutes while he was showering.

Vitaliy Vetrov, 47, picked up the sex workers along the notorious Beach Road in Thai 'Sin City' Pattaya in the early hours of Saturday morning.

He took the 'attractive' pair - a ladyboy and a woman - back to his hotel after agreeing on a fee for their services.

But while he was freshening up for what he hoped would be a threesome, the women allegedly raided his safe and stole 7,000 baht (161 GBP).

The holidaymaker emerged from the bathroom in his towel to find the room empty and his safe tampered with. He rushed to the Pattaya City Police Station at 4 am to file a report.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Saijai Khamjulla said: 'The victim went to the hotel with a Laotian girl and a transgender woman after agreeing on a price.

‘The Laotian woman said that she was too scared to go alone, so she asked the transgender woman to accompany her.

‘After questioning the victim, investigators reviewed CCTV footage.

‘Currently, we have not apprehended the suspects, but there are two of them. We do not know their age or their name.'

Just four days earlier, Chinese tourist Jiangpeng He, 38, also reportedly had his money stolen by a bar girl he took back to his hotel room in the same city. The woman went missing after the romp, whisking away 8,000 baht (184 GBP) with her.

On the same day, Indian tourist Hemanth Kumar, 27, claimed he had his gold necklace worth 5,000 USD stolen by a transgender prostitute while he was in the shower after their romp.

On July 15, American tourist Hysam Moustafa Saber was reportedly attacked by two transgender prostitutes who tried to steal the wallet from his pocket.

A day later, two woman and a ladyboy stole money from a disabled British tourist who hired them for sex in the same resort town.

The trio allegedly made off with 6,000 baht in local currency and 150 pounds in British notes while Chris John Glennon, 60, shuffled into the shower as he prepared expectantly for a wild night on July 16. The tourist was horrified when he emerged and the room was bare with some of his money missing.

Tourists are regularly attacked or caught up in crime, leading Pattaya to be dubbed 'Sin City'.

Embarrassed officials in the central government have launched tourism initiatives to attract families and rebrand Pattaya as a safe destination.

Authorities have also introduced safety measures, such as improved lighting and CCTV.

Despite some success in cleaning up the town's image, alcohol and sex remain its biggest draws, often leading to a high rate of crime and accidents.
