The Israeli security cabinet's approval of a plan to control Gaza City has stirred anxiety and anger among residents of the Gaza Strip, who have endured nearly two years of blockade, continuous bombardment, and deteriorating living conditions. On August 8, Israel's Security Cabinet approved a plan proposed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for the military to take over Gaza City and surrounding areas, which has drawn widespread condemnation from the international community and heightened concerns over an already dire humanitarian crisis in the enclave. Speaking with China Global Television Network (CGTN) at al-Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip, residents said they are gravely concerned about Israel's Gaza takeover plan and called for efforts to end the humanitarian tragedy in the war-torn region. "Since Israel announced its plan to 'fully occupy' the Gaza Strip, the area has completely collapsed. The occupation of the Gaza Strip has created a difficult situation, plunging people into uncertainty about their future. The current economic, political and social problems in the Gaza Strip are extremely serious. This has led to a state of complete collapse. We call on the United Nations, human rights groups, the international community and the Palestinian authorities, we call upon all Palestinians and all Muslims around the world, to stop these massacres, end this war and halt the heinous acts committed by the occupiers in the Gaza Strip. And officials must once again view the situation with compassion, provide whatever they can offer and exert all possible efforts to stop these massacres and this violent torrent of blood, from the shells and missiles that rain down on us every day, causing massacres of children, women and the elderly," said Badr Abu Aslih, a refugee. "If he wants to occupy the whole Gaza Strip, then we are staying put. Where would we go? There's nowhere to go. As the saying goes: 'the sea is behind us and the enemy is in front of us.'
