Israeli army releases 10 Palestinian prisoners after months in captivity
- DEIR AL-BALAH, GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - AUG. 12, 2025: The Israeli army released 10 Palestinian prisoners Tuesday, Aug. 12, after months-long detention.
Staff from the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) transported the released prisoners to al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah for medical examinations.
According to the Palestinian Prisoner Society, more than 10,800 Palestinians have been detained by Israeli forces in the West Bank since October 2023, including 49 women and 450 children.
Israel is facing mounting condemnation for its genocidal war on Gaza, where it has killed nearly 61,600 victims since October 2023.
Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
