Cádiz, Spain - August 12, 2025 Atlanterra, Spain – A video filmed by X user Living Better captures a massive wildfire consuming the region, with thick plumes of smoke filling the sky and helicopters battling to contain the advancing flames. The footage shows a close-up of a charred object held in a hand, believed to be debris from the blaze, framed against the smoky backdrop. Fanned by a heatwave and strong levante winds, the fire has forced the evacuation of more than 2,000 people from homes, hotels, and Playa de los Alemanes. Authorities warn the flames are endangering nearby cultural heritage, including caves containing rupestrian paintings. Some residents were left to spend the night outside or in a local school in Zahara de los Atunes. Living Better said in Spanish: “Fire in Bolonia, passing through Playa de los Alemanes, on the way to Zahara de los Atunes, fire in Cadiz. Flames on the slope of Los Alemanes. Jardines de Zahara urbanization to the right. Some houses on the slope of Los Alemanes are already burning.”
