A massive column of smoke from a wildfire at the Paraje “Cueva del Moro,” situated between Playa de Bolonia and Atlanterra, looms over the area. The smoke is visible all the way from Playa del Carmen in Zahara de los Atunes, illustrating the fire’s vast reach.

Despite the looming threat, people on the beaches continue to swim and relax, showing little concern as the fire burns nearby.

This calm amid crisis underscores the severity of Spain’s current fire season, one of the worst in recent years, with nearly 4,800 wildfires recorded so far—surpassing the decade-long average for large fires.

This latest fire comes shortly after another major blaze in Tarifa was declared extinguished.

Rafael APP Smart Tourism, who captured the footage, stated: “New fire in Tarifa, located in the Paraje ‘Cueva del Moro’ between Playa de Bolonia and Atlanterra. This is how impressive the smoke column looks from Playa del Carmen in Zahara de los Atunes.”
