This is the dramatic moment a car already stopped in the middle lane of a busy highway to change a tyre causes another driver to crash into the guardrail.

Dashcam footage from a passing vehicle shows a car travelling in the middle section of the road suddenly braking hard and losing control before veering sharply left after spotting the stationary vehicle ahead.

The auto then crashed forcefully into the guardrail as other motorists narrowly avoided the collision on the M-10 highway near Tver, Russia, on August 7.

Local media reported that the driver of the stopped car attempted to change a tyre in the middle lane due to the absence of a hard shoulder, with only a narrow strip separating the road from the guardrail.

People can be seen standing around the stationary vehicle, suggesting they were preparing to change the tyre.

No injuries were reported. Authorities said details of the incident are still being clarified.
