More than 10,000 personnel, coordinated by the Albanian Civil Protection Agency, are on the ground working to contain the flames, particularly near residential areas and national parks. Operations carried on through the night in an effort to stabilize the situation. Authorities have urged residents in the Gramsh and Delvine regions to comply with evacuation orders and follow emergency teams’ instructions due to the rapid spread of fires. The warning follows evacuations in parts of Elbasan, Vlora, and Berat provinces on Tuesday. Police said an 80-year-old man in Gramsh likely died from smoke inhalation after a fire he lit in his yard spread to nearby villages. The Ministry of Defense described the crisis as one of the country’s worst wildfire emergencies in years, with 30 active blazes still threatening communities. Writing by Ayse Elif Erdis
