SOUNDBITE (Arabic) HOUTHI MILITARY SPOKESMAN, YAHYA SAREE SAYING: “The Yemeni Armed Forces continue to monitor developments on the ground in Gaza and reaffirm their complete confidence in the capability of the heroic fighters from all factions to thwart the enemy's movements and foil its plans to occupy Gaza and displace its people — God willing — just as they previously foiled the aggression launched under the name “Gideon’s Chariots” with the Stones of David, and others before it." 6. WHITE FLASH 7. SOUNDBITE (Arabic) HOUTHI MILITARY SPOKESMAN, YAHYA SAREE SAYING: “With the help of Allah, we will remain with you and by your side until victory, utilizing all available capabilities. We will escalate our supporting operations until the aggression against you stops and the siege is lifted.” SANAA, YEMEN (AUGUST 14, 2025) (USERS MUST CREDIT “HOUTHI PRESS OFFICE” HANDOUT, MUST NOT OBSCURE LOGO - EDITORIAL USE ONLY) Yemen’s Houthi group announced on Thursday that it had launched a missile attack on an airport in Israel, in what it described as a response to Israel’s military actions in Gaza. In a statement, Houthi military spokesperson Yahya Saree said the group’s armed forces targeted Ben Gurion Airport (Lod Airport) in Tel Aviv with a "Palestine-2" hypersonic ballistic missile. The attack, he claimed, forced "millions of Zionist settlers to flee into shelters" and disrupted airport operations. The Houthis said the strike was carried out in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza, where Israeli military operations have continued since March following the collapse of a temporary ceasefire. The group vowed to escalate attacks until Israel ends its offensive and lifts its blockade on Gaza. Following the Houthi statement, the Israeli military said early Thursday that its air defense systems had intercepted a missile launched from Yemen without triggering air-raid sirens. No casualties or damage were reported. The Iran-aligned Houthis have intensified missile and drone attacks against Israel since late 2023, while also targeting commercial shipping in the Red Sea and nearby waters in protest of the war in Gaza. According to Gaza health authorities, more than 61,700 Palestinians have been killed in Israeli attacks since October 2023. The conflict has heightened regional tensions, with the Houthis positioning themselves as part of an "axis of resistance" against Israel. The group has previously claimed attacks on Israeli-linked vessels and infrastructure, though Israel has often downplayed their impact. Writing by Sibel Uygun
