Dozens of passengers were injured when two trams collided head-on in China.

The pair of Route 202 urban rail vehicles smashed into each other near the end of the line at Xinggong Street in Dalian, Liaoning Province, on Wednesday, August 13.

Footage shows the two streetcars facing each other with shattered windows and heavily damaged front sections, as pedestrians and motorists pass the scene.

Passenger Ms Long recalled that the sudden braking nearly threw her from her seat.

She said: 'The car braked suddenly, and I was shocked. I didn't take a second look as I was eager to leave, but I remember screams from the inside.'

Officials from Dalian Public Transport Group Co., Ltd. Tram Branch confirmed that the section of road where the incident occurred had been reopened to traffic later that afternoon.

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the crash.

Route 202 spans approximately 12.3 kilometres in both directions, linking Xiaopingdaoqian Station to Xinggong Street Station. It passes through key areas such as Wanda Plaza, Dalian Maritime University, Xinghai Square, and the Dalian Xinghai Convention and Exhibition Centre.
