This is the shocking moment a passenger train crashed into a lorry that had stalled on the tracks, forcing its driver to abandon the vehicle.

Footage shows the truck stranded on the rails as the train approaches and slams into it, sending debris flying near Mordves station in the Venevsky district of Tula Oblast, Russia.

Railway officials said the lorry driver had driven onto the crossing ahead of the coach but came to a halt on the tracks.

The train operator applied the emergency brakes, but the distance was too short to prevent a collision.

The lorry driver managed to jump out before the impact and was uninjured on Monday, August 11.

No injuries were reported among the train's passengers or crew.

The locomotive sustained only minor damage and was not derailed but was delayed for nearly three hours while checks were carried out and investigators worked to determine why the lorry remained on the tracks.
