A violent storm uprooted trees and tore down roofs in the Philippines.

Dramatic footage captured by Anabelle Hiteroza shows residents sheltering inside a store as intense downpours and fierce winds battered Quezon City, Metro Manila.

Locals taking cover in the shop were heard screaming as the freak weather hit the area, with thunderclaps echoing in the background.

A huge tree was later seen blocking the road, with several parked motorcycles and a car nearby, at around 3 pm on August 12.

Anabelle confirmed that despite the harsh weather, their home was not damaged.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Western Visayas, and the Negros Island Region could expect partly cloudy to overcast skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the southwest monsoon.

Residents in affected areas were advised to take precautions and prepare for potential flooding.
