Boy, nine, wears 'Make America Gay Again' cap - and captures reactions
A nine-year-old boy captured the reactions while he walked around a US town wearing a 'Make America Gay Again' cap.
Vice Debello-Gaglio the red cap and received a series of wholesome reactions from the public.
Whilst on holiday with his dads and brother in Provincetown, Massachusetts, Vice snuck the hat on during a walk with his family.
Vice's dad, Joseph Debello, 38, was wearing Meta glasses at the time and captured people's reaction to the cap.
Some people were initially shocked, assuming it was a MAGA hat, but, after reading the cap, they complimented and encouraged Vice.
Joseph, a small business owner from Babylon, New York, said: "It was definitely a pleasant surprise to see people's reaction."
"I didn't even know he had put the hat on until we were already out."
"But, because we were on vacation in a predominantly LGBTQ+ area, I felt it was safe for him to keep wearing it."
"And then when we started getting reactions, it was really heartwarming."
Vice said: "I was definitely laughing in my head as I was walking. It was funny seeing people realise what it said."
"And then I also felt so much joy seeing the positive reactions afterwards."
"To me, love and marriage doesn't have to be about straight or gay, it's just about finding someone you love."
Joseph owns the shop that sells these hats, so had given one to Vice when he asked earlier in the month.
The video of people's reactions to the hat amassed significant online attention, reaching over six million views on TikTok.
As a result, online sales for the hat from Joseph's New York store have gone up by more than half.
Joseph said: "I really wasn't expecting any of this to happen this way- so much of it was Vice's idea."
"He was even directing me through the whole thing of where to turn my head for filming on the glasses."
"But since the video went viral, online sales for that cap have gone up 67%."
"And, we are putting $5 from every sale of the hat towards Family Equality, an organisation that sets up a family week every summer in Provincetown for LGBTQ+ families."
