Los Angeles, United States - August 15, 2025 08/14/2025 06:20 pm GMT-0700 ARLETA, LOS ANGELES, Calif. – An investigation is underway into a shooting involving the Los Angeles Police Department and a man armed with a gun. The incident occurred around 4:40 p.m. Thursday, when LAPD officers responded to multiple reports of a man pointing a gun at passing cars near Arleta Avenue and Branford Street in Arleta, according to the LAPD. Officers encountered the man upon arrival, and an officer-involved shooting occurred. The man was transported to a local hospital, where he is in stable condition, reported the LAPD. Detectives arrived and established a command post in the area of Arleta Avenue and Sheldon Street as they began their shooting investigation. According to the LAPD, no officers or community members were injured during the incident. "An item resembling a black semi-automatic pistol is at the scene and will be collected as evidence," stated the LAPD in a post on X Thursday evening. LAPD's Mission and Foothill Divisions are investigating the shooting. There are no further details at this time.
