Deputy Rescues 70-Pound Runaway Tortoise From Roadway
SNOHOMISH COUNTY, Wash. – A Snohomish County Sheriff’s deputy came to the rescue after spotting a 70-pound tortoise wandering in the roadway.
Deputy Stevenson safely contained the large tortoise and ensured it was returned to its pen. According to officials, while the tortoise was vocal in expressing displeasure at being escorted home, no injuries occurred and the animal is safe.
The sheriff’s office shared the story as a reminder that their deputies handle more than just human emergencies—they also step in to keep community pets and wildlife safe when unexpected adventures arise.
