CHICAGO – Staff Sgt. Jonathan Schmertzler and Sgt. Brandon Hexum of the U.S. Army Parachute Team soared over the city Saturday, carrying the American flag as part of the Chicago Air and Water Show.

The two Soldiers executed a precision parachute jump, showcasing their expertise while thrilling thousands of spectators gathered along the lakefront. The flag flyover was among the signature patriotic displays featured in the annual event, which highlights military and civilian aviation skills.

The U.S. Army Parachute Team, known as the Golden Knights, regularly participates in high-profile events nationwide to demonstrate the professionalism and capabilities of America’s Soldiers. Their performance over Chicago served as a tribute to service members and a reminder of the Army’s connection with the communities it represents.
