CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – Rising floodwaters on a Chattanooga interstate turned dangerous Tuesday, but one officer’s quick actions prevented tragedy.

Chattanooga Police Department Officer Montana helped multiple stranded motorists escape their vehicles as water levels rose, carrying luggage and guiding people – and a dog – to safety. After ensuring the first group was secure, she returned to assist more people trapped by the flooding.

The department praised her actions as an example of what it means to serve the community during emergencies.
