Three injured when truck smashes into home
Three locals were injured when a truck crashed into a home in the Philippines.
CCTV footage shows the large vehicle striking at least nine concrete barriers along the road in Lubao, Pampanga, on Friday, August 15.
The truck then veered across the highway before colliding with the wall of a roadside house.
Reports indicate the driver fell asleep at the wheel, leading to loss of control.
Both the driver and his helper were injured and taken to the hospital, while a family member inside the house also sustained injuries.
Investigator Police Staff Sergeant Ryan Paul Vargas said: 'The driver misjudged the distance to the centre barrier, causing the initial collision. When his tyre burst, he lost control and hit the house.'
The truck operator has committed to covering the costs of repairs to the damaged property.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into the incident.
In 2023, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) reported 13,101 deaths caused by road traffic accidents. In 2024, the Department of Health's Online National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (ONEISS) logged more than 37,000 injuries.
Common causes include overspeeding, driving under the influence, distracted driving, and aggressive driving.
