Bakersfield, United States - August 17, 2025 08/17/2025 12:59 am GMT-0700 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A homicide investigation is underway following a large gathering that ended in a shooting, leaving a man dead. The Bakersfield Police Department responded to the Bluffs overlook near Panorama Drive and River Boulevard just before 1 a.m. after reports of the shooting. Officers found one victim believed to be a male suffering from significant injuries. Medical personnel were cleared into the scene and began CPR on the victim. He later died at the scene. Witnesses reported that a large crowd had gathered in the parking lot prior to the shooting when several vehicles arrived, and shots were fired. The crowd quickly dispersed as some individuals attempted to assist the injured man. It is unknown the amount of shots fired or if anyone else was struck. Police detained one woman, believed to possess information about the shooting. The investigation is ongoing, and officials have not released any suspect information.
