United States - August 14, 2025 An Illinois overpass became the scene of an unexpected hoof chase when deputies pursued “a large cow in the roadway.” The incident unfolded on the Interstate 57/Herrin Road overpass near Johnson City. The Williamson County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies responded to assist local police after the cow was spotted wandering on the overpass. Officials later determined the animal had escaped from a stock trailer while its owner was parked at a nearby gas station. Deputies caught up to the cow near the 1100 block of Prosperity Road. Working alongside police and local cattlemen, they prevented the animal from entering interstate traffic. “With a little teamwork, and a well-placed lasso, the cow was captured,” the sheriff’s office wrote, sharing dashboard camera footage of the pursuit.
