At around 6 p.m. on 16 August in Fule Village, Youxi Town, Lianping County, Heyuan City, Guangdong Province, a woman in a white top was chatting on a slope beside a fish pond while pushing a pram, accompanied by another woman in red. During their conversation, the woman in white let go of the pram, which began sliding faster and faster down the slope.

Realising what was happening, she cried out and rushed to chase it, but before she could grab the pram, it toppled into the fish pond and she herself fell in as well. The woman in red dashed over to help, pulling the pram out of the water. Another villager soon arrived and pulled the woman out of the pond.

Both the woman and the child in the pram were rescued in time and were unharmed.

Local villagers said the fish pond, originally quite small, had been renovated by the village committee, making it larger and deeper, with water reaching 3 metres. The pond is directly beside the road but has no fencing or warning signs. Similar accidents had happened before, including one where a villager on an electric scooter plunged into the pond.

Staff from Youxi Town government stated they would urge the village committee to strengthen safety measures, including installing barriers around the pond.
