A tourist stayed in one of London's smallest hotels - and says it cost less than the price of a train home.

Callum Ryan, 24, stayed in the Piccadilly Hostel in Piccadilly Circus and paid just £24 for a night.

Guests stay in a "phone box" sized pod - fit with just a bed, mirror and charging ports. "

The hotel has separate shower and toilet facilities outside of the pods for guests to use.

The content creator says it's "perfect" for a cheap night stay in central London."

Callum, from Wandsworth, London, said: "It is actually really sick. And I would 100% definitely go back."

"Most hotels in that area are upwards of about £180 a night. So you think, you save yourself a fortune."

"A lot of people in the comment section were like, ‘This is cheaper than just getting the train home.' And it's true."

Callum stayed at the hotel on August 5, 2025 and didn't expect much. He found the hotel while researching cheap options for his series on the most expensive and cheapest experiences in the UK.

He said: "I did have low expectations for this hotel, especially for £24 a night, I thought there was no way it would be nice at all."

Instead, Callum was impressed by the standards of the hotel.

"The toilets and showers were my main worry but they were all clean and so were the beds."

"A lot of people online said that they couldn't do it because of claustrophobia, but I actually think there was enough room in there to spend the night comfortably. "

"And to be honest, it is quite soundproof. You don't hear a lot of noise, and there is ventilation, a fan, charger hooks - all for £24, you don't expect to get that sort of high tech."

Callum pointed out the practicality and convenience of the hotel.

He said: "If you want somewhere to spend the night this cheap in the middle of London, and you've got everything you need all in one space, then it's literally perfect."

As for recommendations, Callum said that the hotel seemed set up "more for people commuting to London and wanting to stay the night somewhere easy and central," rather than tourists. "

"It's good for even after a night out or if you've missed your train home. It seems more of a convenience thing and maybe more suited to those who know the area already," he said."
