ATHENS, Ga. — Members of Training Squadron VT-2, known as the “Doerbirds,” performed a formation exercise during a cross-country flight to Athens, Georgia, on Aug. 16, 2025.

The exercise highlighted the precision and teamwork of naval aviators as they trained together in formation flying, a key skill for operational readiness. VT-2 is one of the Navy’s training squadrons tasked with preparing future aviators for fleet operations.

Formation exercises are a critical part of naval flight training, teaching pilots how to maneuver aircraft safely and effectively in close proximity. These skills ensure readiness for future missions and operations around the world.
