The Spider Forest. Norfolk, Virginia. Halloween

Buy video

This display started in 2019 with 2 spiders made of trash bags and pool noodles as an attempt to bring the joy of Halloween back to the neighborhood. I quickly realized they weren't enough to win the kids over from trunk-or-treat and had to figure something out. With all the extra time I had in 2020, I retired the trash bag spiders and made my first 5 foot spider out of PVC pipes and great stuff foam. After realizing how easy it was to make Halloween decorations, I knew I needed to go big. So, every year since, I've made a new decoration and added more spider webs for a solid arachnophobia feel. There is now a 10 foot wide spider, massive cauldron, 2 cocooned bodies, a plague doctor, and a ton of cobwebs. Trick-or-treaters can take photos with the giant spider and the plague doctor before venturing through the web tunnel and entering the spider Forest to get their treats. It's not just a display but, an experience for kids and adults alike. I've always dreamed of being the go-to house on Halloween and I finally feel like it's getting close.
