Police raided a counterfeit cosmetics factory and seized £455,000 of fake products in eastern Thailand.

Officers stormed the illegal facility in Chachoengsao province east of Bangkok where they found workers in the middle of producing bogus goods destined for China.

Footage shows employees manually packing phony beauty products into boxes. White vats and blue barrels of ingredients reportedly imported from China were also found.

Authorities seized more than 234,699 items, including packing equipment, bath products, and cosmetics worth 20 million baht (455,000 GBP).

Investigators said the raid on August 14 was carried out after the factory was found to be operating without a licence from the Food and Drug Administration or provincial health office.

Factory manager Paphawee, 24, was detained in the crackdown. During questioning, she allegedly claimed she graduated with a chemistry degree, and had knowledge of cosmetic ingredients and production.

She reportedly said she was hired by a Chinese employer to run the facility.

Police said Paphawee now faces a string of charges under Thailand's Cosmetics Act of 2015, including producing and selling unregistered cosmetics and using foreign-language labels that failed to provide information in Thai.

Police Major General Pattanasak Bubphasuwan, commander of the Consumer Protection Police Division, said: 'Consumers should carefully verify the source of their products, especially health items. If the price seems unreasonably low, labels are incomplete, or the advertising is misleading, they risk receiving counterfeit products that pose a health risk.

'Those selling such illegal products will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.'
