The hurricane battered parts of the Caribbean, including Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands, bringing torrential rainfall, fierce winds, and powerful surf. In Puerto Rico, more than 100,000 utility customers were left without power, while airports and ports reported significant disruptions, including flight cancellations and closures. Rough seas and flooding risks also affected the Virgin Islands as Erin swept through the region. Although the storm is not expected to make landfall in the United States, authorities have issued warnings of life-threatening rip currents and hazardous surf along the East Coast from Florida to New England.
