VARIOUS OF PALESTINIANS CRYING AS BODY BEING CARRIED FOR BURIALGAZA, PALESTINE - AUG. 19: Palestinian journalist Islam Al-Koumi was killed Tuesday, Aug. 19, in an Israeli strike during an overnight incursion into Gaza City’s Al-Sabra neighborhood, according to local health officials. The attack, which involved heavy artillery shelling, left five people dead. Al-Koumi’s funeral was held outside Al-Shifa Hospital, where relatives and mourners gathered in prayer and tears before he was laid to rest. Israel has killed more than 62,000 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
