This is the dramatic moment a car burst into flames during a high-speed chase in Ohio.

The pursuit in Sharonville began following a tip-off from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) regarding a vehicle linked to two shootings in Cincinnati.

A licence plate recognition camera located the vehicle in a Days Inn car park on Lebanon Road.

Police said the Ford Explorer reached speeds of 80 to 90 mph on I-275 during Thursday evening rush hour, August 14.

The vehicle weaved through traffic, exited and re-entered the motorway, and eventually left the interstate via Montgomery Road. Near Kenwood, it collided with four other cars, causing significant damage.

An officer said: 'He just wrecked into four vehicles. We're continuing. This car's going to be disabled shortly.'

Footage shows the Explorer entering Silverton, still evading officers, with smoke and flames pouring from beneath the vehicle before it came to a stop.

Firefighters responded swiftly to extinguish the blaze. No injuries were reported.

The occupants attempted to flee, but police quickly apprehended the driver and two passengers.

The ATF confirmed the investigation is ongoing and declined to release the suspects' names.
