Only some of the aid-seeking Palestinians received a limited amount of aid. Muhammed Abu Shuayba, a Palestinian man who went to receive aid for his family of 10, said he was left empty-handed because of the crowd and a stampede that broke out. He called for aid to be distributed fairly, describing the airdropped supplies as “death.”

The ministry also noted that 18 Palestinians were killed and over 117 were injured in Israeli attacks while trying to get humanitarian aid in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of Palestinians killed while seeking aid to 2,036, with over 15,064 others wounded since May 27.

The ministry reported that two people have died of starvation and malnutrition in the past 24 hours. This brings the total death toll from starvation to 271, among them 112 children, as the humanitarian crisis in the enclave deepens.

The Israeli army resumed its attacks on the Gaza Strip on March 18 and has since killed 10,646 people and injured 45,073 others, shattering a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that took hold in January.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
