This is the amusing moment a human-shaped robot competing in a race ploughed into a staff member and kept running as if nothing had happened, leaving the man on the track.

The incident occurred during the World Humanoid Robot Games held in Beijing, China, on August 15.

The first-of-its-kind event featured over 500 humanoid robots from countries including Japan, Germany, and the United States, competing in various sports, including a 1,500-metre race.

Shocking footage shows Unitree's H1 humanoid robot charging toward the finish line when it suddenly crashed into an event technician.

The worker was knocked flat, but H1 did not slow down, continuing to win gold in 6 minutes 34.40 seconds, setting a new world record for humanoid robots in the event.

Authorities later confirmed the technician escaped serious injury.

Unitree founder Wang Xingxing admitted the black athletic bot was at least partly under remote control during the race, suggesting the mishap may have been caused by human error. He added: 'Next time we won't remote control it.'

The H1, priced at CNY 650,000 (approx. GBP 67,200), also went on to win the 400-metre race.

China has been increasingly integrating robots into public life, deploying humanoid robots for community services, autonomous vehicles for public security, and service robots in hospitality and retail sectors.

On March 26, the G1 robot, created by Unitree and dressed in a stylish violet flowy top, made its debut at the Xintiandi show venue during Shanghai Fashion Week.

On March 4, Yushu Wang Xingxing, Founder and CEO of Unitree, sparred with the humanoid robot to demonstrate its combat skills in Zhejiang.

Human and animal-like robots are being developed in several countries, with China and the United States leading the 'tech arms race'.

Earlier this year, a military-style robot dog was even spotted protecting President Donald Trump in Florida.

Meanwhile, eccentric billionaire Elon Musk—who played a key role in Trump's recent U.S. election victory—recently unveiled Optimus, describing it as a multi-functional assistant capable of handling household chores, playing with children, and performing repetitive tasks.
