5. VARIOUS OF PEOPLE TAKING AWAY AID PACKAGE GAZA STRIP, PALESTINE - AUGUST 22: Efforts to deliver humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip by parachute drops continued on Saturday, August 22, as Israeli strikes and blockade persisted.

Military cargo planes released aid packages over central Gaza, drawing crowds of Palestinians to Deir al-Balah.

Under scorching sun, residents waited for hours in the open, with some managing to reach and collect the supplies dropped from the sky.

According to medics, starvation and severe malnutrition worsened the health of the baby, who had been suffering from congenital diseases, including atrophy, encephalitis (brain inflammation), and cerebral palsy.

Gaza’s Health Ministry said at least 271 people, including 112 children, died of starvation and malnutrition in the Gaza Strip.

The UN agency for Palestinian refugees said Friday that famine in Gaza, deliberately created by the Israeli government, is confirmed, after also being formally confirmed by the UN-backed global hunger monitoring system IPC.

Israel has killed more than 62,100 Palestinians in Gaza since October 2023. The military campaign has devastated the enclave, which is facing famine.

Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.

Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave.
